Atwell Primary is committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of all students. The Department of Education requires primary students to have at least two hours of physical activity each week, and we ensure this is built into our regular timetable.
If your child is unable to participate in physical activity—for example, due to illness or a medical condition—please send a note to their teacher.
Throughout the year, students take part in a range of movement and game based activities. To participate safely and comfortably, we ask that all students wear appropriate clothing, including their school uniform, a hat, and sports shoes.
Students are selected to take part in the Interschool Cross Country and Athletics Carnivals, which complement our own Faction Athletics Carnival. Our Year 6 students also have opportunities to represent the school in interschool sports during both winter and summer.
Students in Years 1–6 take part in swimming lessons during the school term. While there is no cost for the lessons themselves, parents are required to cover bus transport and pool entry fees. These lessons form an important part of the school curriculum. Dates will be provided throughout the year, and permission notes will be sent home in advance.
